Kue bingka is anIndonesian traditionalcake (kue basah) that is one of the typical traditionalBanjarkue mostly associated withSouth Kalimantan province,Indonesia. Kue bingka also found inMalay cuisine. It has a sweet taste and a soft texture. Kue bingka is one of the cakes used in theBanjar tradition to serve 41 types of cakes for special occasions such as weddings. Although it can be found throughout the year, kue bingka is usually common inRamadan due to it is considered suitable foriftar.

Aside from being a typicalBanjaresedessert, kue bingka is also famous in neighboring provinces such asEast Kalimantan andCentral Kalimantan, even to foreign countries such asBrunei,Malaysia andSingapore.[1] Kue bingka was introduced by theSino-Burmese toLower Myanmar, where it is known askway pinka (ကွေပင်ကား).[2]

Kue bingka is made up offlour,eggs,coconut milk,sugar andsalt. As a rule, kue bingka is baked with floral prints. There are various kinds of kue bingka such as kue bingkatapai,potato,pumpkin andpandan. In addition, there are other types of kue bingka which are common duringRamadan, namely "kue bingka barandam" which is quite different from the usual kue bingka.
