TheKsani (Georgian:ქსანი,Ossetian:Чысандон,Ĉysandon) is a river in centralGeorgia, which rises on the southern slopes of the GreaterCaucasus Mountain Range inSouth Ossetia and flows into theKura (Mtkvari). It is a left tributary of theKura. The Ksani is 84 km (52 mi) long, and has adrainage basin of 885 km2 (342 sq mi).[2]Ksani (both the river and the name) is often associated with theMedievalGeorgianKsani fortress which lies near the confluence of the Ksani and theMtkvari.
