Kronoberg County (IPA:[ˈkrûːnʊˌbærj];[3]Swedish:Kronobergs län) is acounty orlän in southernSweden. Kronoberg is one of three counties in the province ofSmåland. It borders the counties ofSkåne,Halland,Jönköping,Kalmar, andBlekinge. Its capital is the city ofVäxjö. While Kronoberg is an inland county, the southernmost fringes are about 20 kilometres (12 mi) from the coastline.

Geographically, Kronoberg County is situated in the southern part of the province ofSmåland. It received its present borders in 1687 whenJönköping County was separated from the formerJönköping and Kronoberg County.
The seat of residence for theGovernor orlandshövding is Växjö. The Governor is the head of theCounty Administrative Board orlänsstyrelsen. The County Administrative Board is aGovernment Agency headed by a Governor. The current Governor is Kristina Alsér who took over the office fromLars-Åke Lagrell.
