Krishnagatha (Malayalam: കൃഷ്ണഗാഥ) is a 15th-century poem written inMalayalam language; It is also known as Krishnapattu.[1] it belongs to the poetic formGatha. The author of the poem is believed to beCherusseri Namboothiri, who lived in Cherusseri nearVatakara inKerala,India. It deals with the story ofKrishna.[2][unreliable source?]
The poem depicts the stories ofKrishna from his birth to ascension. It describes the story as inBhagavata. It consists of forty-seven stories.
It was written inMalayalam language, at a time when literary works were usually written inSanskrit orTamil.
The poem gives importance torhyme in second letters and third letters. It has some words and phrases which are no longer used in the Malayalam language. It also contains ancient forms of someproverbs.
