Statlander returned from injury alongsideTrent Beretta on March 31, 2021, helpingChuck Taylor andOrange Cassidy defeatMiro andKip Sabian onDynamite.[21] In September atAll Out, she challenged Baker for the AEW Women's World Championship but was unsuccessful.[22] In November, Statlander–along with Trent, Taylor, Cassidy, andWheeler Yuta–joined theNew Japan Pro-Wrestling-based stableChaos.[23] In August 2022, Statlander suffered a completely torn ACL andlateral meniscus in her right leg during a match onDark and stated she would need take time out to recover.[24]

TBS Champion; feud with Willow Nightingale (2023–2024)

[edit]

Statlander returned atDouble or Nothing in May 2023, appearing after a match between then-AEW TBS ChampionJade Cargill andTaya Valkyrie in which Cargill retained her title. She answered Cargill's open challenge to an impromptu match and won, ending Cargill's 60-match undefeated streak and obtaining the AEW TBS Championship.[25] Over the coming months, Statlander would defend the championship against the likes ofNyla Rose,Anna Jay,Taya Valkyrie among others.[26][27][28][29] AtAll Out she successfully defended the championship againstRuby Soho,[30] and against a returningJade Cargill on the September 13 episode ofRampage.[31] Statlander soon began a feud withJulia Hart, which also involvedSkye Blue andWillow Nightingale, which led to a match atWrestleDream against Hart, in which Statlander successfully defended theAEW TBS Championship.[32] Statlander would go on to successfully defend the championship against Blue on the October 14 episode ofCollision and against Nightingale atBattle of the Belts VIII.[33][34] AtFull Gear Statlander lost theAEW TBS Championship to Hart, in a match also involvingSkye Blue, which ended when Hart pinned Blue, ending her reign at 174 days.[35] After the loss,Stokely Hathaway would seek a partnership with Statlander and Nightingale, although at first he was turned away, his offer was later accepted.[36] On theWorlds End: Zero Hour show, which took place in both women's nativeNew York, Statlander was defeated by Nightingale.[37] AtRevolution 2024: Zero Hour on March 3, Statlander and Nightingale defeated Blue and Hart.[38]

On May 26, atDouble or Nothing, After Nightingale was defeated byMercedes Moné,Stokely Hathaway berated Nightingale until Statlander pushed him over, seemingly terminating his role as their manager. Moments later, on the ramp Statlander attacked Nightingale and aligned herself with Hathaway once again, revealing the prior events to be a ruse.[39] As a result of the attack Statlander turnedheel.[40] Statlander competed in theOwen Hart Cup, defeating Nyla Rose in the first round but losing to Nightingale in the second.[41][42] At theAll In: Zero Hour show on August 25, Nightingale andTomohiro Ishii defeated Statlander and Hathaway in amixed tag team match, which the winner would chose the stipulation of their match atAll Out, with Nightingale choosing their match to be a Chicago street fight.[43][44] The match was meant to be for theCMLL World Women's Championship but that stipulation was abandoned due toCMLL not allowing titles to be defended in street fights.[45] AtAll Out on September 7, Statlander defeated Nightingale, seemingly ending the feud.[46]

Championship pursuits (2024–2025)

[edit]

After defeating Nightingale, Statlander quietly parted ways with Hathaway, with thekayfabe reason for the split being Statlander had invoiced Hathaway a large sum of money to make up for physical therapy, emotional damages and losing her shot at the CMLL World Women's Championship, though this was never acknowledged on AEW programming.[47][48][49] As a result of the split, Statlander quietly returned to being ababyface. On the October 4 episode ofRampage Statlander began a feud with TBS Champion Mercedes Moné.[50][51] On October 30, atFright Night Dynamite, Statlander defeated Moné's bodyguardKamille before she was attacked by Moné.[52] A match was set between the two forFull Gear on November 23 for the TBS Championship shortly afterwards. At the event on November 23, Statlander failed to recapture the TBS Championship.[53][54] The following month it was announced that Statlander would face Moné for the TBS Championship in a rematch atWorlds End on December 28.[55] At the event, Statlander was once again unable to regain the title.[56]

On the March 29, 2025 episode ofCollision, Statlander announced her entry into the women's bracket of theOwen Hart Cup, a tournament where the winner will receive anAEW Women's World Championship match atAll In.[57] During the tournmanet, Statlander defeatedThunder Rosa in the quarter-finals, but lost toJamie Hayter in the semi-finals.[58][59] After the tournament, Statlander began being approached by members of theDeath Riders in attempts to recruit her to join the group.[60][61] On the June 25 episode ofDynamite, Statlander defeatedAthena, Willow Nightingale, andThunder Rosa in afour-way match to earn the number one spot in the women'sCasino Gauntlet match atAll In on July 12 with assistance from Wheeler Yuta andMarina Shafir of the Death Riders, but failed to win the match at the event.[62][63]

AEW Women's World Champion (2025–present)

[edit]

AtAll Out on September 20, Statlander defeated"Timeless" Toni Storm,Jamie Hayter andThekla to win theAEW Women's World Championship, marking her first world championship in a major promotion, as well as the first woman to have won the AEW Women's World Championship and the AEW TBS Championship.[64] On the September 24 episode ofDynamite, Statlander defeatedMina Shirakawa in her first title defense. After the match, Statlander was confronted by the Death Riders and teased joining the group, but ultimately rejected their offer.[65] On October 18 atWrestleDream, Statlander successfully defended her title against Toni Storm.[66] On November 12 atBlood & Guts, Statlander competed in the first ever women'sBlood and Guts match, but her team was defeated.[67] AtFull Gear on November 22, Statlander successfully defended her title against Mercedes Moné.[68] AtWorlds End on December 27, Statlander successfully defended her title against Jamie Hayter.[69]

On the January 28, 2026 episode of Dynamite, she successfully defended her title againstThekla.[70] On the February 11 episode of Dynamite, Statlander lost the title to Thekla in astrap match, ending her reign at 144 days.[71]

Professional wrestling style and persona

[edit]
Statlander in April 2019

Statlander originally employed analien gimmick,[72] which she attributed to her being "a big science nerd".[73] Under this character, she was nicknamed "The Galaxy's Greatest Alien" and billed as having come from theAndromeda Galaxy.[3][17] Statlander changed her gimmick in 2022 since she felt that with the previous gimmick "I was never really being fully taken seriously", calling the previous character as "too fun, too lovable, I guess, too goofy and easygoing".[74]

Statlander uses a450° splash and aninverted piledriver asfinishers, respectively calledArea 451 and theBig Bang Theory. With her change in gimmick,Big Bang Theory was renamedNight Fever depending what night of the week the finisher takes place on[Note 1] until she turnedheel in 2024 where it was renamedStaturday Night Fever.[75] After she returned to being ababyface later in the year, the name was reverted depending which night it takes place on.[76] In late 2024, it was once again reverted to being calledStaturday Night Fever.[77] The finisher's name is a reference to the popular song "More Than a Woman" by theBee Gees, which she had used as her entrance theme early in her career.[78][79] Also in 2024, she began to use adiscus lariat as both a signature and finishing move.[80]

Personal life

[edit]

Statlander is avegetarian.[81] She was formerly in a relationship with independent wrestlerMason Burnett, who is best known as Caleb Konley.[82][83] Statlander has aShiba Inu named Dino.[84] In addition, Stadtlander has abearded dragon named Boots, which she formerly shared with Burnett.[85]
