Kris Lefcoe is a film director and writer based in New York City. She graduated from theUniversity of Toronto with a degree inphilosophy, before attendingNorman Jewison'sCanadian Film Centre as a Director Resident. Many of Lefcoe's films are dark comedies about contemporary culture.
Kris wrote, directed and produced the comedy pilotGiving Up, which won a number of awards including Overall Best of the Fest, and Best Writing, at the 2017New York Television Festival,[1] and Best Comedy and Best Director atSeriesfest.[2] The series is executive produced byDavid Wain (Wet Hot American Summer).
Lefcoe's feature filmPublic Domain, starringDon McKellar,Nicole DeBoer (Private Eyes,The Dead Zone) andJason Jones (The Daily Show,The Detour), premiered at theSouth by Southwestfilm festival[3] and won the Audience Award for Best Feature at theBeverly Hills Film Festival.[4] The film was installed in a curated program of video art atArt Basel Miami.
Lefcoe wrote and directed a number of notable short films, includingTiny Riot Project, which screened at the Rotterdam Film Festival,[5] was installed at Havana Biennale and Art Basel Miami, and sold to The Sundance Channel,[6] andCan I Get a Witness?, starringScott Speedman, which premiered atToronto International Film Festival.
Kris Lefcoe has directed numerousmusic videos, including PeachesBoys Wanna Be Her. Her work has been nominated Best New Artist MVA and winner of Best Music Video at theOttawa International Animation Festival.[7]
