Kremenets Raion (Ukrainian:Кременецький район) is araion (district) inTernopil Oblast of westernUkraine. Theadministrative center is the city ofKremenets. Population:140,063 (2022 estimate).[1]
On 18 July 2020, as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, the number of raions of Ternopil Oblast was reduced to three, and the area of Kremenets Raion was significantly expanded. Two abolished raions,Lanivtsi andShumsk Raions, as well as a part of one more abolished raion,Zbarazh Raion, and the city of Kremenets, which was previously incorporated as acity of oblast significance and did not belong to the raion, were merged into Kremenets Raion.[2][3] The January 2020 estimate of the raion population was45,884 (2020 est.).[4]

The area was known as the KremenetsUyezd when it was part of the Russian Empire. It was part ofVolhynian Governorate.[9]
