Kota Long Jaafar is a defensive fort and residence built byLong Jaafar inBukit Gantang,Perak, built in 1820.[1] The fort is located on a plot of land measuring 5 square hectares.
The fort was made frombricks andmud, noted being the first inPerak.[2] The wall of the fort is 2.5 meter high and took five years to complete.[3]It acts as a defensive fort fromSiam invasion, which was futile to Perak at that time.[4] Long Jaafar mansion was situated in the middle with alake calledTakungan Menteri at the front.[5]
Long Jaafar died in 1857 and was buried within his fort. He was succeeded by his sonNgah Ibrahim[6]
