Rashawn King, known professionally asKori King, is an Americandrag performer who competed on theseventeenth season ofRuPaul's Drag Race.[1][2]

Early life and education

Rashawn King was born on March 13, 2000[3] and raised inBoston.[4] His father isTrinidadian and his mother isPortuguese andNative American.[5] His parents are divorced. He attendedBoston Arts Academy for visual arts.[6] He then studiedcommunication in college, but dropped out after a year.[7] King has a background inanimation.[8] Before starting his drag career, King was a pharmacy technician and store manager atWalgreens.[9]

Career

King'sdrag persona is Kori King, billed as the "Black Barbie of Boston".[10] In 2023, she performed alongsideKesha as part of theOnly Love Tour.[11] That same year, she was awarded the "Boston's Best New Performer to Watch" award.[12][13] She also playedAriel in a localLittle Mermaid-themeddrag show.[14] Kori King acquired large followings onTikTok andYouTube early in her career.[15] Ian Helms included her inQueerty's 2024 list of Boston's top twenty drag performers.[16]

RuPaul's Drag Race

Kori King competed on theseventeenth season (2025) ofRuPaul's Drag Race. She entered the Werk Room on the premiere episode wearing an outfit inspired byDunkin' Donuts.[10][17] She was named the "trade" of the season by her castmates.[18] On thefourth episode, Kori King placed in the bottom two and defeatedJoella in alip-sync contest to "Buttons" byThe Pussycat Dolls in order to remain in the competition.[19] Kori King impersonatedBig Ang for theSnatch Game challenge on theseventh episode.[20][21] She placed in the bottom again on theeighth episode, defeatingAcacia Forgot in a lip-sync to "Wet Dream" byAdam Lambert.[22][23] She was eliminated from the competition on theninth episode, after placing the bottom two of a design challenge and losing a lip-sync contest againstLydia B Kollins.[24][25] Kori King placed ninth overall.Pride.com has described her as a "fan favorite".[26]

On thefifteenth episode, ahead of the season finale, Kori King competed in the lip sync contest known as the "Lip Sync LaLaPaRuza Smackdown", which pitted all of the season's eliminated queens against one another in a lip sync battle tournament. After defeatingArrietty,Lana Ja'Rae, and her romantic partnerLydia B Kollins in the preliminary battles, Kori King advanced to the final round, where she lipsynced againstSuzie Toot to "Apt." (2024) byRosé andBruno Mars. Ultimately, Suzie Toot was pronounced victorious by RuPaul, thus making Kori King the second place runner-up of the LaLaPaRuza tournament.[27] Kori King's Instagram following grew by 783 percent as the show aired.[28]

Cameo career and social media presence

After the completion of season 17, King became the most popular video creator on the onlineCameo platform, which King uses to sell custom-made videos of herself parodying fictional characters and celebrities.[29] One of the more popular characters King portrays on the site is "Kori Toot", which is a parodical reference to fellow contestant Suzie Toot and her 'vintage glamour' style of drag.[30] Kori King has also impersonatedThe Lorax,Shrek, andJoJo Siwa,[31] along withMichael Jackson on the 2025 Emmys Red Carpet, where she explained that she wanted to be "comfortable and chic" despite judgement from others.[32] When asked about her Michael Jackson drag at theseason 17 grand finale, King stated that, "I haven’t heard anything from the Michael Jackson society. It’s just funny; it’s comedy. When I’m getting in drag, I want to laugh. I was in that drag for literally 12 hours, and I was exhausted."[33]

After being displaced from the top position on Cameo byNikki Blonsky in April 2025, King jokingly stated to a reporter that she hopes "Blonsky falls off the face of the Earth and gets banned".[34][31]

Personal life

King is datingDrag Race co-starLydia B Kollins.[35][36][37] In 2025, he moved from Boston toPittsburgh, Lydia's hometown.[38]

Kori King is the "drag sister" ofPlane Jane, who competed on thesixteenth season ofDrag Race.[39][40]
