TheKorea Baseball Organization (KBO;Korean:한국야구위원회) is thegoverning body for theprofessional leagues ofbaseball inSouth Korea. The KBO was founded in 1981 and has governed two leagues: theKBO League (KBO 리그) andKBO Futures League (KBO 퓨처스리그 (farm league) since 1982.[1][2][3][4] It is one of two major baseball governing bodies; the other is theKorea Baseball Association (대한야구협회), which is the governing body foramateur baseball competitions.[5][6][7][8]
The KBO is a member of theInternational Baseball Federation (IBAF), and is responsible for thenational baseball team for theWorld Baseball Classic andAsia Series.[9][10] National team participation in other competitions is governed by the Korea Baseball Association.[11]
