Etymology

[edit]

{{In ancient times, this entire area was a huge forest and a sanctuary for wild animals. Four prominent Muslim families of the place decided to clear the forest to build a mosque in this place. They threw gold coins into the forest in the presence of the locals. The natives cleared the forest to get these gold coins. The place where the forest was cleared came to be known as “Konduvetti”. Later it became “Kondotti”. Kondotti vow is a symbol of Hindu Muslim friendship. It is celebrated as a national festival by the entire people of Kondoti. With the establishment of the Kozhikode Airport at Kondotti in Malappuram district, the skies of Malabar took off and this undeveloped region sped into development at lightning speed.}}
