Komtar is a state constituency inPenang,Malaysia, that has been represented in thePenang State Legislative Assembly since 2004. It coversGeorge Town's city centre, including the eponymousKomtar, which housesPenang's administrative centre.
The state constituency was first contested in 2004 and is mandated to return a single Assemblyman to thePenang State Legislative Assembly under thefirst-past-the-post voting system. Since 2013[update], the State Assemblyman for Komtar is Teh Lai Heng from theDemocratic Action Party (DAP), which is part of the state's ruling coalition,Pakatan Harapan (PH).
According to the federal gazette issued on 18 July 2023, the Komtar constituency is divided into 14 polling districts.[3]

This state seat encompasses the heart ofGeorge Town's city centre, includingKomtar Tower,Penang's tallest skyscraper and the administrative centre for the entire State ofPenang.[4] The Office of theChief Minister of Penang is housed withinKomtar as well. In addition, the Komtar constituency covers a significant portion ofGeorge Town'sUNESCOWorld Heritage Site, specifically the area between Transfer Road to the west andBeach Street to the east, and between Campbell Street to the north andPrangin Road to the south.
The major landmarks within the constituency include Chowrasta Market, Campbell Street Market andAcheen Street Mosque, all of which are within the city centre'sUNESCOSite. The shopping district within the vicinity ofKomtar, which includes1st Avenue Mall,Prangin Mall andPenang Times Square, are also within the Komtar state seat.
The constituency is bounded to the north byMacalister Road, Jalan Zainal Abidin (formerly Yahudi Road),Burmah Road, Transfer Road, Campbell Street and a short section ofArmenian Street, to the east by a section ofBeach Street, Carnavon Street,Magazine Road and Brick Kiln Road, to the south by a short section of thePinang River andDato Keramat Road, and to the west by Jalan Perak.
