The song was originally planned to appear on21 Savage andMetro Boomin's collaboration albumSavage Mode II.^[5] The official music video was released on November 4, 2021.^[6]

"Knife Talk" samples a part of Project Pat's verse from "Feed the Streets", written byJuicy J, Project Pat,A$AP Rocky, andMetro Boomin, as performed by the former three and, like this song, co-produced by the latter.^[7]
