Kirkcudbright was aroyal burgh that returned onecommissioner to theParliament of Scotland and to theConvention of Estates.
After theActs of Union 1707, the commissioner for Kirkcudbright was one of theScottish representatives to the first Parliament of Great Britain.[1] From1708 Kirkcudbright,Annan,Dumfries,Lochmaben andSanquhar formed theDumfriesdistrict of burghs, returning one member between them to theHouse of Commons of Great Britain.
