Kiribati made itsParalympic Games debut at the2024 Games in Paris.[1] The island nation had originally planned to debut at the2020 Games in Tokyo butwithdrew due to COVID-19 concerns.[2][3]
Kiribati was granted membership to theInternational Paralympic Committee in October 2019.[4] The nation's Paralympic debut in 2024 was supported by theAustralian Government andAustralian Olympic Committee.[5][6] During the Parade of Nations at the2024 Summer Paralympics opening ceremony, the flag of Kiribati was carried byOngiou Timeon, who represented the nation in themen's shot put event.[7]
