Kimberley Land Council Aboriginal Corporation, known asKimberley Land Council (KLC), is an association ofAboriginal people in theKimberley region ofWestern Australia. Theland council was formed at a meeting atNoonkanbah Station in May 1978.[1][2] The corporation is registered with theOffice of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations as ICN (Indigenous Corporation Number) 21.[3]
The introduction of theNative Title Act 1993 saw the KLC as thenative title representative body for Kimberleytraditional owners.[4] In the years 1998 to 2007, Federal Court native title litigation was successful for the following claims:[5]
TheUunguu (Wunambal) andDambimangari (Worrorra) determinations, which formed part of Wanjina Wunggurr claim, were made in May 2011.[5][6]
