Killyleagh (/kɪliˈleɪ/; fromIrishCill Ó Laoch, meaning 'church of the descendants of Laoch')[1][2] is a village andcivil parish inCounty Down,Northern Ireland. It is on theA22 road betweenBelfast andDownpatrick, on the western side ofStrangford Lough. It had a population of 2,787 people in the2021 Census. It is best known for its twelfth-centuryKillyleagh Castle. Killyleagh lies within theNewry, Mourne and Down district.
According to the 2021 Census there were 2,787 people living in Killyleagh. 51% were from aProtestant and'other Christian religions' background, 37% were from aCatholic background and 12% wereirreligious.[3]

The civil parish is mainly in thebarony ofDufferin, with onetownland in the barony ofCastlereagh Upper. It also contains the village of Killyleagh.[5]
