TheKikim people are a sub-ethnic group ofMalay people who mostly reside in theSouth Sumatra Province of Indonesia. They inhabit the Kikim region, which includes West Kikim, East Kikim, Central Kikim, and South Kikim inLahat Regency, South Sumatra, Indonesia.[2]
The Kikim people are part of the Besemah (Pasemah) community cluster within the Malay affinity bloc; this ethnic group is found only in Indonesia. Their primary language isCentral Malay.
The Kikim people originate from the area surrounding the Kikim River inLahat Regency. Up to the present-day, they have continued to inhabit the region around the Kikim River basin, and Kikim settlements remain the largest population centers in the area.
