Kidd's Orange Red is acultivar of domesticatedapple that was developed inGreytown,Wairarapa,New Zealand.[1][2] It is also known as theDelco apple.[1] The Kidd's Orange Red creamy white flesh, crisp and juicy texture, and sweet and aromatic flavor.[2]
TheCaptain Kidd apple is asport from Kidd's Orange Red with fruit that have a stronger red pigment.[1]
This crop bears fruit reliably but not heavily, making less commercially attractive.[2] It is a parent ofGala andTelstar apple cultivars.[1]
