Khirbat al-Shuna orKhirbat ash-Shuna was aPalestinianArab hamlet in theHaifa Subdistrict. It was located 32.5 km south ofHaifa. Khirbat al-Shuna contained a small archaeological site, Khirbat Tell Mubarak. The area is now known asShuni and is part of aJNF park, immediately north ofBinyamina-Giv'at Ada.
In the1922 census of Palestine, conducted by theBritish Mandate authorities, it was calledShuneh, and had a population of 15Muslim and 51 Jewish inhabitants,[1] while in the1931 census it was counted asEsh Shuna underZikhron Ya'akov, which had a total 214 Muslim inhabitants.[2]
In 1948, it was classified as ahamlet.[3] It was depopulated during the1947–1948 Civil War in Mandatory Palestine on March 15, 1948.
In 1992, the site was described: "The site is fenced in and the few standing houses have beenrenovated and turned into tourist facilities. There are tall palm and eucalyptus trees and cactuses grow around the houses".[4]
