Khar (Pashto:ښار,X̌ār), also spelledKhaar, is the headquarters ofBajaur District inKhyber Pakhtunkhwa,Pakistan. Khar was one of the largest towns in theFederally Administered Tribal Areas (merged into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2018). It lies near the border withAfghanistan. Theheadquarters of theBajaur Scouts are located in the town. A civil colony is located in the town and this place is the court of Bajaur.
On 30 October 2006, theChenagai airstrike happened near Khar.Helicoptergunships fired missiles and destroyed anal-Qaeda-linked training facility and killed 80 local students in a northwestern tribal area near theAfghan border, in amadrassa.[citation needed]
