Khalilullah II (Persian:خلیل الله دوم) was the 41stShirvanshah, governingShirvan underSafavid suzerainty between 1524—1535.[1]
Born asKhalil, after the death of his father, he assumed theregnal name ofKhalilullah II in 1524. He was married toIsmail I's daughter, andTahmasp I's sisterParikhan Khanum (not to be mistaken for Tahmasp's daughterPari Khan Khanum)[2] on 4 October 1521.
After death ofIsmail I, the new shahTahmasp I was suspicious towards the newshirvanshah. This suspicion had grown when the latter gave asylum to a traitor to the Safavids -Gilan ruler Sultan Muzaffar. However, before demanding a pardon, Khalilullah died unexpectedly without issue, and was succeeded byFarrukh Yassar II.
