Kent was a 1960s/1970sguitar brand.[1][2]

The "Kent"brand was established byBuegeleisen and Jacobson, a musical instrument distributor based inNew York City, in 1960.[1] Early Kent guitars were made byHagström, based in Sweden.[3] These were branded "Kent" in theUnited States and "Futurama" in theUnited Kingdom. Later, around 1963,Guyatone andTeisco guitars were rebadged as Kent guitars.[2] Other manufacturers includedFujiGen,Kawai, andMatsumoku. In the early 1970s, Southland Musical Merchandise Corporation acquired the Kent brand and moved manufacturing toSouth Korea.

Kent guitar series included the 400, 500, 600, 700 and 800 series.[4][5]Kentguitar amplifiers andguitar pedals were also marketed by Buegeleisen and Jacobson.[6]Kent guitars were played by musicians includingDavid Bowie andBob Dylan.[1]
