Kenshi Hirokane (Japanese:弘兼 憲史,Hepburn:Hirokane Kenshi; born September 9, 1947) is aJapanesemanga artist fromIwakuni, Yamaguchi. He graduated fromWaseda University with a degree in law, then worked forMatsushita Electric for four years, before making hismanga debut in 1974 withKaze Kaoru.[1]

Hirokane is known formanga that addresses social issues, as well as for creating the best-sellingseinen mangaHello Harinezumi, adapted as anoriginal video animation (OVA) calledDomain of Murder.[2] He has received numerous awards, including the 1985Shogakukan Manga Award forseinen/general manga as the artist forHuman Crossing,[3] the 1991Kodansha Manga Award for general manga forKachō Kōsaku Shima,[4] and an Excellence Prize for manga at the 2000Japan Media Arts Festival forTasogare Ryūseigun ("Like Shooting Stars in the Twilight").

He is married to manga artistFumi Saimon. They have a son and a daughter.
