Lakendrick Tridel Clancy (born September 17, 1978) is an American former professionalfootball player who was adefensive tackle in theNational Football League (NFL).[1] He was selected by thePittsburgh Steelers in 2000, having also played for theNew York Giants,Arizona Cardinals andNew Orleans Saints. He played college football at theUniversity of Mississippi.

Early life and college

Born inTuscaloosa, Alabama, Clancy attended Holt High School before playing college football atEast Central Community College inDecatur, Mississippi,[2] and then atOle Miss.[3] As a senior in 1999, he was team captain[citation needed] and a third-teamAll-American selection byThe Sporting News andThe Football News[4][citation needed]

Professional career

Clancy was selected by the Steelers in the third round in 2000 and played for them for four years.[5] After his time with the Steelers, he signed with the Giants,[4] where he played for one year, followed by a year with the Cardinals. He then signed with the Saints in 2007. In2009, he began the season as a projected starter, but injured his knee in the opening game, thus played in only 2 games, ending up on theinjured reserve list while the team wonSuper Bowl XLIV.[6] He was an unrestrictedfree agent after the 2009 season, but the Saints re-signed him on August 30, 2010.[3] He was released 5 days later.[7]
