Ken "Duro" Ifill is a Trinidadian-Americanmixing engineer andrecord producer andrecord executive. He is a co-founder andchief executive officer ofDesert Storm Records. In 2011, he was nominated forGrammy Award for Record of the Year at the53rd Annual Grammy Awards for "Empire State of Mind".[1] Since 2018 he operates asvice president andA&R ofRepublic Records.[2]Attended Five Towns College, Long Island where he secured his 1st Internship at Platinum Island Recording Studios, Downtown Manhattan. Since 1998, as a record producer, he produced tracks for the likes ofNoreaga,Jay-Z,Fabolous,Foxy Brown andPop Smoke.
In the mid-1990s, Duro served as an intern engineer forQ-Tip during the recording ofMobb Deep'sThe Infamous album.[3] His first credits as mixing engineer were onGravediggaz debut album.[4]
In 1997, Duro,DJ Clue, and Skane Dolla (DJ Clue's manager) developedDesert Storm Records. The label's first major artist is rapperFabolous. In September 2001,Fabolous released his debut albumGhetto Fabolous, charting at No. 4 on theBillboard 200. The label was previously distributed throughInterscope,Elektra,Atlantic andSony. The label is currently distributed throughDef Jam.
