Kelvin Banks Jr. (born March 10, 2004) is an American professionalfootballoffensive tackle for theNew Orleans Saints of theNational Football League (NFL). He playedcollege football for theTexas Longhorns, winning theOutland Trophy andLombardi Award in 2024 prior to being selected by the Saints ninth overall in the2025 NFL draft.

Early life

Banks was born on March 10, 2004,[1] inHumble, Texas.[citation needed] He attendedSummer Creek High School.[2][3] Banks was rated a five-star recruit and initially committed to play college football at Oregon over offers from Texas, LSU, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma State.[4] He later decommitted after Oregon head coachMario Cristobal left the program.[5] Banks later signed to play at theUniversity of Texas at Austin.[6]

College career

Banks enrolled at Texas in July 2022. He was named the Longhorns' starting left tackle entering his freshman season.[7][8] Banks was named a semifinalist for theShaun Alexander Award as a freshman in 2022 and was named a member of the All Big-12 first team in 2023.[9][10] In 2024, he was named First Team All-SEC and won theJacobs Blocking Trophy and theLombardi Award, as the best lineman in college football that year. Banks was also awarded theOutland Trophy, which is awarded to the best interior lineman in college football.[11]

On January 12, 2025, Banks declared for the2025 NFL draft.[12]

Banks was selected by theNew Orleans Saints ninth overall in the first round of the2025 NFL draft.[15] He signed his four-year rookie contract worth $27.73 million fully guaranteed.[16]

Personal life

In November 2024, Banks and his girlfriend announced that they were expecting their first child together.[17]
