Keith Szarabajka (/særəˈbaɪkə/;[1]Polish:[ʂaraˈbajka]; born December 2, 1952) is an American actor. He is best known for his roles as Mickey Kostmayer onThe Equalizer, Daniel Holtz onAngel, Gerard Stephens inThe Dark Knight and Adam Engell inArgo. He has also voiced Dr. Terrence Kyne inDead Space, Major General Spencer Mahad inDead Space 3,Joshua Graham inFallout: New Vegas, Harbinger inMass Effect 2, Detective Herschel Biggs inL.A. Noire and the Didact inHalo 4.
Szarabajka was born inOak Park, Illinois on December 2, 1952, the son of Anne, a school teacher, and Edward Szarabajka, a savings and loan officer. His father was a much decorated veteran ofWorld War II. He fought inNorth Africa andItaly until the end of the war. He received theSilver Star, twoBronze Stars and thePurple Heart.[2]
He attendedCampion Jesuit High School inPrairie du Chien, Wisconsin,John Hersey High School inArlington Heights, Illinois, and theUniversity of Chicago, as well asTrinity University inSan Antonio, Texas. He studied acting further at the Organic Theater inChicago from 1972 to 1978. During this time, he co-wrote "Bleacher Bums" along with, among others,Joe Mantegna andStuart Gordon. In 1982 he had a supporting role in theCosta-Gavras filmMissing.
His acting resume is extensive, appearing in numerous television programs includingThe Equalizer,Profit,The X-Files,Becker,Star Trek: Voyager,Star Trek: Enterprise,Charmed,Roswell,24,Max Steel,The Inside, andLaw & Order. In 1994, he portrayed Matthew Stoner inBabylon 5 episode "Soul Mates". He is known for his role as Mickey Kostmayer in the 1980s showThe Equalizer, as well as for his recurring role as vampire hunterDaniel Holtz in the cult seriesAngel, the spin-off fromBuffy the Vampire Slayer. He played the lead role inStephen King'sGolden Years. In 2016, he began the recurring guest role ofDonatello Redfield inSupernatural, appearing in nine episodes before the show's conclusion in 2020.
Szarabajka has contributed his voice to several audio books, notablyFierce Invalids Home from Hot Climates byTom Robbins, for which he won the 2001Audie Award for Best Fiction, Unabridged;Fear Nothing andSeize the Night byDean Koontz; several roles in aGrammy nominated audio dramatization ofThe Maltese Falcon,[3][4]Rising Sun byMichael Crichton;Nelson Algren'sWalk on the Wild Side; andThe Mark of Zorro oppositeVal Kilmer.[5] Szarabajka is the voice of Russman inCall of Duty: Black Ops 2.
Additionally, he provided the voice for antagonistDmitri Yuriev in theXenosaga series and for The Master of Whispers in the gameGuild Wars: Nightfall and forEmile Dufraisne inTom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent. He played the role of Detective Gerard Stephens in theBatman Begins sequelThe Dark Knight and voiced Dr. Terrence Kyne for the animated sci-fi horror filmDead Space: Downfall based on theDead Space video game. He also voiced a minor character inCondemned 2: Bloodshot named Inferi.
He is the Archangel Azrael inDarksiders: Wrath of War and is the Crowfather, The Scribe, and Wicked Killington inDarksiders 2. He also is Wicked Killington inDarksiders: Genesis. He played a very small role inDragon Age: Origins as a nameless dwarf collecting nugs, a voiceset for male dwarf characters, and several minor characters. He plays Executor Pallin in the video gameMass Effect and the Reaper Harbinger, the main villain of its sequelMass Effect 2 as well as a few minor characters. In 2008, he voicedVenom inSpider-Man: Web of Shadows. In 2010, he voiced theAutobot Ironhide inTransformers: War for Cybertron as well as its 2012 sequelTransformers: Fall of Cybertron, andMr. Freeze inYoung Justice. He provides the voice forGilgamesh in the video game,Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy. He also provided the voice for Joshua Graham inHonest Hearts, downloadable content forFallout: New Vegas.
