Kazuyuki Itō[2] (伊藤和幸,[3]Itō Kazuyuki) is a Japaneseastronomer.
In 1994, he discovered6879 Hyogo at Sengamine Observatory,[4] a 20-kilometer sized carbonaceousasteroid from the main belt.[5] The body was named in honor of the JapaneseHyōgo Prefecture with its capital city of Kobe, where theGreat Hanshin earthquake occurred on 17 January 1995.[6] Naming citation was published on 3 May 1996 (M.P.C. 27130).[7]
