Involvement in the industry

[edit]

Miki believes in selling original works throughmedia franchising in hopes to appeal to markets outside traditional publishing. As such, many of the works he supervised have had manga and anime adaptations.

In the initial draft ofShakugan no Shana, the titular protagonistShana was in her twenties and resembledMargery Daw, another character in the series, in appearance, however following Miki's suggestions, the character was reworked.

The concept ofOreimo as aslice of lifecomedy based onotaku culture was planned by Miki based on the style of the author,Tsukasa Fushimi.[5][6]Kirino Kosaka, the main heroine of the series, was proposed by Miki as like "agyaru character taken from the works ofTooru Fujisawa."[7] As a native ofTokushima, he often appears at Machi Asobi which is held inTokushima City, along with Fushimi.[7]
