It comprises themunicipality ofKavundampalayam and its surrounding areas inCoimbatore.
It was formed by the 2008 delimitation and is part of theCoimbatore parliamentary constituency.[3] It was created by the bifurcation ofThondamuthur Assembly constituency.[4] It is one of the 234 State Legislative Assembly Constituencies in Tamil Nadu in India.
