Emilian Kavalski[1] is a Bulgarian-Australian political scientist and international relations scholar. He is Professor of International Relations atTampere University,Finland[1]. Since 2014, he has served as the book series editor forRoutledge’sRethinking Asia and International Relations series.[2] Prior to joining Tampere University, Emilian was the inauguralNAWAChair Professor in theCentre for International Studies and Development at theJagiellonian University inKrakow,Poland, theLi Dak-Sum Chair Professor in China-Eurasia Relations andInternational Studies and the founding Director of theGlobal Institute of Silk Roads Studies at theUniversity of Nottingham Ningbo China (2018-2021).[3][4] In 2006, he completed his PhD in International Relations at theLoughborough University.[5] Kavalski was aSenior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at theWestern Sydney University (2008-2013), and then a ResearchAssociate Professor ofGlobal Studies in the Institute for Social Justice at theAustralian Catholic University (2014-2018).[6][7][8]

Emilian's work explores the interconnections between the simultaneous decentering of International Relations by post-Western perspectives and non-anthropocentric approaches.
