TheKattubava Mosque, also known as theKattubava Pallivasal, is aSufimosque located in the village of Kathvapallivasal, in thePudukkottai district of the state ofTamil Nadu, India. The mosque is situated 30 kilometres (19 mi) fromPudukkottai on theThirumayam-Madurai highway.
Constructed in the 17th century byArcot NawabMuhammad Ali Khan Wallajah in theIndo-Islamic style, the mosque contains the tomb ofSufi saint Bava Fakruddin, and is an important Islamic pilgrimage centre. It is famous for itsurs which occurs duringRabi-ul-Akhir.[2]
The entrance to the mosque is through an arched gateway flanked by tallminarets. Inside, the mosque features a vast prayer hall with rows of columns supporting a vaulted ceiling, topped by a large dome. Themihrab is decorated with blue and white tiles.[2]
