Katpadi (pronounced[kaːtpaːdi]) is a locality in the northern part ofVellore, in thestate ofTamil Nadu, India.
Once a village, Katpadi was upgraded to apanchayat town, with its owntaluk office. It has a majorassembly constituency which is part ofArakkonam (Lok Sabha constituency).[1]
TheVellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is in Katpadi. In 2010 it was ranked as one of the best private engineering universities in India.[2][3]
