Kathryn Humphreys (born 19 September 1970)[1] is aCanadian formersports anchor forCityNewsat Five,CityNews at Six andCityNewsTonight. She was previously with CityNews Weekend which she joined in March 1997.

Born inOshawa,Ontario, Humphreys worked as anintern at680 News in the sports department inToronto andWBZ-TV inBoston. She moved to theMuskoka area to work atThe Moose 100.9 FM inBracebridge, reporting news, sports and weather.

As the daughter of theOshawa Generals owner John Humphreys, she had plenty of exposure to sports. She has playedbasketball,volleyball andfootball while sitting onVictoria College's Athletic Executive Board during university. She was married to formerTragically Hip drummer Johnny Fay until September of 2016.[2]

She earned anEnglishdegree,honours degree, and aminor in history from theUniversity of Toronto.

The broadcaster confirmed her departure fromCitytv in November 2007 after failing to resolve a new contract with station management.[2] However, the contract dispute was resolved, and on 10 December 2007, she re-assumed her position as aCityNews sportscaster. She also appeared onRogers Sportsnet andThe Fan 590.[3]

On 25 August 2009, Humphreys was nominated for aGemini Award in the category of "Best Host or Interviewer in a Sports Program or Broadcast".[4]

Humphreys announced on 27 May 2015 that she was leavingCityNews after eighteen years with the station in order to spend more time with her twin boys who had been born the previous year.[5]
