Kasuga Air Base (春日基地,kasuga-kichi) is a base of theJapan Air Self-Defense Force inKasuga,Fukuoka Prefecture,Japan.[1] The base serves as the headquarter of Western Air Defense Force (WADF), with itsArea of Responsibility encompassingKyushu,Shikoku and theChūgoku region on the western part of the country.[2] Ahotline connecting Kasuga Air Base andDaegu (Taegu) Air Base inSouth Korea is also established, through which communications between the two countries are carried out several dozen times a day.[3][4]
The base lacks arunway or dedicatedhelicopter landing facilities, so flying units commanded from here are actually located at the nearbyFukuoka Airport.
