Karin Märta Elisabeth Enström (bornLanderholm 23 March 1966) is aSwedishpolitician of theModerate Party. She has served as Secretary-General of theModerate Party since October 2022 and has been aMember of the Riksdag since the1998 general election, representingStockholm County. She served asMinister for Defence in thecabinet of Fredrik Reinfeldt from 2012 to 2014.[1] She is anAmphibious Corpsofficer by profession.

Political career

Enström has been amember of theRiksdag since 1998, representingStockholm County. She was a member of the Defense Committee from 2002 to 2010, serving as its Chairman from 2008. After the2010 general election she was appointed as Chairman of theCommittee on Foreign Affairs and was also a member of theWar Delegation and the Foreign Policy Council. Enström was commissioned as anofficer in 1987, passed the Royal War College(Kungliga Krigshögskolan) common course in 1988, and its higher course in 1993. She currently holds the rank of captain in theSwedish Amphibious Corps. She has been a member of theCity Council ofVaxholm since 1994 and was chairman of the council from 2002 to 2006.

Enström is the daughter ofsurgeon general Staffan Landerholm and Olena(born Tingdahl). Her older brother,Henrik Landerholm, is serving as Sweden'sNational Security Advisor from 2022 to 2025[3] and wasSweden's Ambassador to Riga from 2013 to 2017 andSweden's Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates from 2017 to 2021.[4][5] Her sister,Louise Landerholm Bill, is married toPer Bill. Her niece,Alice Landerholm, is chairman of theModerate School Youth since 2023.[6]

She is married toAnders Enström, a lieutenant colonel in the Amphibious Corps employed at the Navy Tactical Staff Headquarters. She has three children.[7]
