Kane A. Parsons (born June 18, 2005), known online asKane Pixels, is a British-American[a][citation needed] YouTuber, filmmaker, VFX artist and musician known for hisweb seriesBackrooms based onthe online fiction of the same name.
In January 2022, Parsons publishedThe Backrooms (Found Footage) to hisYouTube channel, which wentviral and expanded into a series of shorts. Parsons directed afilm adaptation of the series. The film was first announced to be in development atA24 in February 2023, and was filmed in the summer of 2025.[1][2][3]

Kane Parsons was born on June 18, 2005. His interest invisual effects started withLittleBigPlanet. He would work on environments and lighting in the engine. Parsons gotAdobe After Effects around winter 2017. Around a few months later, he wanted to do a video set in the universe ofLittle Nightmares, compelling him to learn After Effects. He watched tutorials whenever he had questions for any project, expanding his knowledge as time moved on. In February 2020, Parsons downloadedBlender. He would start to learn Blender as time passed. Prior to that, he worked on Element 3D, being a part of After Effects. Blender helped him and gave him what he felt as creative freedom. Parsons felt that 2020 was the best year for his skill growth.[4]
When Parsons was 8, he developed an interest in music when practicing the piano. He would play and practice the piano for two years. The experience taught him the basics and gave him interest in music. In middle school, he experimented withGarageBand on his school-issued iPad. In July 2020, Parsons got a trial ofFL Studio. Excited by what he was creating, he soon upgraded to the paid version. He would release some of his music on hisSoundCloud and YouTube music channel. Parsons' music channel would gather attention and grow in 2022 after the release ofThe Backrooms (Found Footage).[4]
Parsons would register a YouTube channel on April 13, 2013. He would initially postMinecraftLet’s Plays andmeme videos, but it soon transitioned to him grabbing a camera and searching up how to make a film.[5][6] Parsons’ films didn’t receive much attention, as his meme videos would attract more people. Instead of publishing his films online, he published them through local festivals and other real-life means.[7]
At 14 years old, Parsons would send a fan video of web seriesDad Feels toNathan Barnatt. Barnatt would react positively and suggested changes to the video. It soon developed and published as “The Facility” on June 1, 2020 underDadFeels. Parsons would soon work with Barnatt with other installments.[8]
In later half of 2020 and the beginning of 2021, Parsons would publish a series of videos known asProject 209. It is a web series apart ofDad Feels. It follows Kane Parsons getting kidnapped and force to live in Town, USA.[9]
In 2021, Parsons adapted theanime and manga seriesAttack on Titan into six animated shorts. The videos present events from the series in the form of historical footage akin towar photography from the early 20th century.[10] The videos were praised by fans of the original series for its horror elements and for remaining faithful to the original series.[11]
Backrooms is ascience fictionhorror web series, debuting on January 7, 2022. It revolves around the fictional Async Research Institute studying, exploring, and utilizing the dimension known as the Complex.
Parsons started working on "The Backrooms (Found Footage)" in late 2021; being inspired by an image of the Backrooms creepypasta saved to his computer. Later releasing on January 7, 2022, on YouTube, Parsons intended the short film to be a single entry and didn't expect it to accumulate many views. The video started to gain popularity a few days later, gaining around 69 million views as of November 2025. Prior to the upload, Parsons had an unfinished and unrelated story he had developed some time ago. He initially connected the ideas and themes with the short film, but he didn't think the idea would be too popular. But with the newly founded popularity, Parsons reconsidered the story idea and would finalize and integrate the story in January of that year.[4]
The Oldest View is amysterythriller web series, debuting on March 18, 2023. The First Section revolves around a YouTube vlogger, Wyatt, discovering a staircase leading into an underground mall.
Prior to production, Parsons encountered an image of a rolling giant puppet based onJulien Reverchon, and saved it to his computer in the summer of 2021. When he rediscovered the photo in December 2022, he would search for its origins. During New Year's Eve, he shared his findings with his friends. In January through March 2023, they would search and collect media of the rolling giant. Parsons would consider adding the rolling giant to theBackrooms web series, but he would find it limiting and not fitting. In March, he would have a clear idea whatThe Oldest View would be. He would work on "Renewal" and publish it on March 18, 2023.[12]

People Still Live Here is a digital horror web series, starting on January 13, 2025. It revolves around a video game retelling the events experienced and documented by Clifton J. Saywell between 1934 and 1946 in the dimension called 'The Meadow'.
The 1st work relating toPeople Still Live Here was an album, with the same name, released on June 13, 2023, on YouTube. He would start working on "SAYWELL" in 2024 and later publish it on January 13, 2025, on YouTube.
