Kamtschatarctos is an extinctgenus ofpinniped that lived approximately 15.97 to 11.608mya during theEarly Miocene in the Kavran-Ukhtolok Bay of Russia'sKamchatka Peninsula.[1][2][3] It belonged to the familyOdobenidae, the only extant species of which is thewalrus.[4]
Kamtschatarctos sinelnikovae is known from a partially complete skeleton, discovered in the Etolon Formation in Russia.
Kamtschatarctos is a relatively basal species of odobenid.
