Kalle Nils Björklund (born 31 May 1999) is afootballer who plays as acentre-back forVasalunds IF inEttan. Born in Spain, he was a youth international for Sweden.
Björklund was born inValencia,Spain. He also lived inEngland andItaly before the age of six, due to his fatherJoachim Björklund being a professional footballer.[1][2]
He started to play football withValencia CF and was part of their youth academy up until 2017, when he moved toTorre Levante to start his professional career.[2] Björklund made 36 appearances for the club in the2017–18 campaign ofTercera División, Spain's fourth tier.[1]
On 16 August 2018, Björklund signed a two and half-year deal withHammarby IF inAllsvenskan, Sweden's top tier.[3] He spent the vast majority of the 2018 and 2019 seasons nursing a serious knee injury.[1][4]
In 2020, Björklund made his debut in Allsvenskan, playing 14 league games for Hammarby, as the club disappointingly finished 8th in the table.[5] He also made one appearance in the second qualifying round of the2020–21 UEFA Europa League, where Hammarby lost 0–3 to Polish sideLech Poznań.[6]
On 21 January 2021, Björklund was sent on loan toFalkenbergs FF inSuperettan, the Swedish second tier.[7][8] On 12 July 2021, he was recalled by Hammarby, only to be immediately sent on loan to fellow Superettan clubVästerås SK for the remainder of the year.[9][10]
In 2022, Björklund made some appearances for Hammarby's affiliated clubHammarby TFF inEttan, Sweden's third tier, but subsequently left the club at the end of the year.[5]
In early 2023, he signed withIFK Stocksund in Ettan.[11][12]
Björklund was called up to theSweden under-19 national team in March 2018, and featured in two qualification games to the2018 UEFA European Under-19 Championship againstRomania andSerbia.[13]
Björklund also holds a Spanish citizenship.[14] He is the son of former Swedish international footballerJoachim Björklund, and the grandson of football coachKarl-Gunnar Björklund.[15]
