Kabisuryanagar (also spelledKavisuryanagar) is a town and aNAC inGanjam district in theIndianstate ofOdisha.
Kabisuryanagar is named after the writer KabisurjyaBaladeba Ratha. Kabisuryanagar is also known by its former name of Boirani; it was an important town of theAthgarh princely state. Kabisuryanagar has been a hub ofOdissi music for several centuries, due to the presence ofKabisurjya Baladeba Ratha who set up an institution to impart training inOdissi music in the region. In the early 20th-century, AcharyaTarini Charan Patra set up his institution in Kabisuryanagar, calledGandhiji Sangeeta Kalamandira with the support of the Maharaja ofKhallikote. Among well-known students of Tarini Patra hailing from the same town are Durjyodhan Sahu andRamarao Patra.[2]
As of 2001[update] Indiacensus,[3] Kabisuryanagar had a population of 16,092. Males constitute 41% of the population and females 59%. Kabisuryanagar has an average literacy rate of 62%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 53%. In Kabisuryanagar, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Kabisurya Nagar is a main market for the green, fresh vegetables produced in nearby villages (Sadabarta Nuagram, Sandhamara, Bolasara, Balyasara, Brahmanichhai, Mantapada, Arabindanagar, Gudiali, Jarada, Athagada, Pathara, Sundariapda, Golamundala, Sialia, Sunarijhola, Sanapankalabadi, belapur, Baliapalli, Ambapua, Akadashi, Barida etc.).
Maximum summer temperature is 37 °C; minimum winter temperature is 16 °C. The mean daily temperature varies from 33 °C to 38 °C. May is the hottest month; December is the coldest. The average annual rainfall is 1250 mm and the region receives monsoon and torrential rainfall from July to October.
