KXWI (98.5MHz) is a radio station licensed toWilliston, North Dakota, which serves northwesternNorth Dakota and northeasternMontana.[3] The station airs acountry music format and its morning show, hosted by Tom Simon, is the most listened to show in the Bakken. KXWI is owned by Andrew Sturlaugson's P&A Media.[4] It has been on the air since 2014.
KXWI began broadcasting in 2014[1] under the ownership ofStephen A. Marks,[5] through his Williston Community Broadcasting.[6] Marks already ownedKDSR andKGCX in the area.[5]
Stephen Marks died on May 11, 2022.[7] Andrew Sturlaugson's P&A Media acquired Marks' Montana and North Dakota radio stations, including KXWI, KDSR, and KGCX, for $850,000 in 2024.[6]
