KWTX (1230kHz) is anAMradio station broadcasting anews/talkradio format. Licensed toWaco, Texas, the station is owned byiHeartMedia, Inc.[2] Its studios are located onHighway 6 in Waco.
KWTX is aClass C station broadcasting at 1,000watts, using anon-directional antenna. Thetransmitter is at Primrose Drive and South 18th Street, south ofBaylor University in Waco.[3]
Most programs on KWTX arenationally syndicated. The weekday line-up includesThe Glenn Beck Program,The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show,The Sean Hannity Show,The Jesse Kelly Show,This Morning, America's First News with Gordon Deal andCoast to Coast AM withGeorge Noory. Two additional weekday syndicated shows come from other iHeart stations in Texas,The Michael Berry Show fromKTRH inHouston andThe Joe Pags Show fromWOAI inSan Antonio. KWTX no longer features a local weekday morning show, instead airingWalton & Johnson fromKPRCHouston. Past morning hosts include Mac Watson, Garret Lewis and Shane Warner.

KWTX firstsigned on the air on May 1, 1946; 79 years ago (1946-05-01)[4] It was the second radio station in Waco, and originally broadcast with 250 watts.[4] KWTX was anetwork affiliate of theMutual Broadcasting System.[5]
In 1955, it added a television station, Channel 10KWTX-TV. In 1970, it signed on an FM radio station,KWTX-FM 97.5 MHz. Through the 1970s and 80s, KWTX 1230 aired afull service radio format, includingmiddle of the road (MOR) music, news and sports. On March 2, 1981, KWTX switched to a Country format. On Feb. 27, 1987, KWTX began carryingSatellite Music Network's adult standards format full-time.
On August 10, 1998, KWTX changed its format tochildren's radio, featuring programming fromRadio Disney. The Disney format lasted nearly three years.
In June 2000, the station was acquired by Capstar, a forerunner to current owner iHeartMedia. On July 15, 2001, KWTX dropped Radio Disney and switched formats back to talk radio, with hourly news supplied byABC News Radio.[6][7] In 2005, the network was changed toFox News Radio.
