Justus Hollatz (born 21 April 2001) is a German professionalbasketball player forBayern Munich of the GermanBasketball Bundesliga (BBL) and theEuroLeague. He plays thepoint guard position.
Hollatz was born on 21 April 2001, in theLangenbek district ofHamburg. His basketball journey began through a working group at the Marmstorf elementary school, where he played with his two older brothers Joshua and Jacob on the youth team of BG Harburg Hittfeld.[1] He also playedfootball, and auditioned for the youth team ofFC St. Pauli. However, the club was far from his parents' home, which prevented him from taking the opportunity to move to St. Pauli. Since he preferred basketball, Hollatz ultimately gave up football.[2]
In November 2015, Hollatz made his debut with the youth team of Harburg Hittfeld.[3] Prior to the 2017–18 season, Hollatz moved to clubSC Rist Wedel.[4]
For the 2018–19 season, Hollatz transferred to his hometown clubHamburg Towers, where he eventually helped lift them to a title.[5] After the championship winning season, Hollatz signed a three-year contract with Hamburg in May 2019.[6]
Three years later, Hollatz moved to Spanish clubBreogán, for the 2022–23 season.[7] During his lone season with the team he averaged 7.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.[8] In June 2023, Hollatz signed withCedevita Olimpija for the 2023–24 season.[9] However, he was loaned for the season toAnadolu Efes.[10]
In January 2025, following his stint with Anadolu Efes, Hollatz signed a three-year contract with German clubBayern Munich.[11]
In February 2021, Hollatz made his debut with the seniorGermany national team, in aEuroBasket 2022 qualifier againstGreat Britain.[12] In September 2022, Hollatz was one of the members who helped Germany win bronze atEuroBasket 2022, where he averaged 1.3 points and 2.8 assists per game.[13] The following year, Hollatz helped Germany win the2023 FIBA World Cup, averaging 2 points and 1 assist per game during the competition.[14]
