Jungingen (German pronunciation: [ˈjʊŋɪŋən] ) is amunicipality in theZollernalbkreis ,Baden-Württemberg ,Germany . It is located nearby the castleBurg Hohenzollern , about 5 km east ofHechingen .
In former times, the city was located inHohenzollern-Hechingen , a principality of theHouse of Hohenzollern , and a fiefdom ofSwabian counts.
Jungingen and theKornbühl fromRaichberg Jungingen withHohenzollern Castle Jungingen is located in the valley of theStarzel , a tributary of theNeckar .

Jungingen was probably founded in the 4th century byAlemanni , named after a leader called "Jungo".
The village was firstdocumented in 1075.
The local castle was located on a hill called "Bürgle". In 1278 it was transferred to theOrder of St. John , and around 1300 to the Duke ofWürttemberg . In 1311, it was destroyed in theTowns war , byReutlingen , which also burned down the village.
The most famous people from Jungingen were two brothers who becameGrandmaster of theTeutonic Order during theBaltic Crusades ,Konrad von Jungingen andUlrich von Jungingen .
UnderKonrad , theMonastic State of the Teutonic Knights inPrussia was at the peak of its power (1393–1407) after an invasion force under Konrad conquered the island ofGotland in 1398, destroyedVisby , and drove theVictual Brothers out of Gotland and the Baltic Sea.
Ulrich died 1410 in theBattle of Grunwald .
