Julieanna Hever (known as thePlant-Based Dietician) is an American registereddietitian and advocate ofplant-based nutrition.
Hever received a bachelor's degree fromUniversity of California, Los Angeles and a Masters of Science in nutrition fromCalifornia State University, Northridge where she completed her Dietetic Internship.[1] She worked as a clinical dietitian at Century City Doctors Hospital.[1] Since 2005 she has worked as a registered dietitian in Los Angeles.[2] She is a consultant toForks Over Knives and a nutrition columnist forVegNews magazine.[2][3]
Her 2014 bookThe Vegiterranian Diet focuses on improving theMediterranean diet into a lower-fatwhole food entirely plant-based approach.[4] According to Hever if fish and vegetable oils are removed from the Mediterranean diet then it is a whole food plant-based diet.[5][6]
In 2021, Hever authoredThe Choose You Now Diet which contains 75 whole food, plant-based recipes.[7] Hever is a council member ofTrue Health Initiative.[2]
Hever is an ethical vegan in her personal life.[8] She became interested in plant-based dieting after reading John Robbins’ bookDiet for a New America as a teenager.[8]
