Juan José "Juanjo" Nieto Zarzoso (born 3 October 1994) is a Spanishfootballer who plays forSlovenian PrvaLiga clubCelje.[1] Mainly aright back, he can also play as awinger.
Born inCastellón de la Plana,Valencian Community, Nieto represented VV Rafalafena,CD Castellón, CF Futur andCD Roda as a youth.[2] He made his senior debut with Castellón's first team on 16 December 2012, starting in a 1–1Tercera División home draw againstCD Eldense.[3]
On 16 September 2013, Nieto joinedReal Valladolid, being assigned tothe reserves also in the fourth level.[4] He achieved promotion toSegunda División B inhis first season as an undisputed started, but was sparingly used inhis second.
On 6 August 2015, Nieto signed for fellow third-tier clubCD Atlético Baleares.[5] The following 18 July he moved to anotherreserve team,RCD Mallorca B.[6]
Nieto first appeared with themain squad on 22 January 2017, starting in a 1–1Segunda División away draw againstCF Reus Deportiu.[7] On 14 July, aftersuffering relegation, he agreed to a deal withHércules CF in the third division.[8]
On 6 August 2019, Nieto returned to the second division after agreeing to a two-year deal withReal Oviedo.[9] He scored his first professional goal on 1 December, netting the opener in a 2–1 home win overRayo Vallecano.
On 9 July 2021,free agent Nieto signed a two-year contract withUD Almería also in the second level.[10] He helped the side in theirpromotion toLa Liga, but suffered aknee injury in February 2022.
On 25 November 2022, after recovering from injury, Nieto announced his departure from theRojiblancos,[11] and signed a 18-month deal withSD Huesca in the second division.[12]
In August 2024, he joinedSlovenian Prva Liga championNK Celje as a free agent.[1]
