Juan José Urquizu Sustaeta (24 June 1901 – 22 November 1982) was a Spanishfootball player and manager.
Born inOndarroa (Biscay,Basque Country), Urquizu played as adefender forOsasuna,Real Madrid,Athletic Bilbao andBarakaldo.[1][2] He wascapped once bySpain, in 1929.[3][4]
He managed Athletic Bilbao, Barakaldo,Real Oviedo,Real Murcia,Levante,Ourense andAlavés.[5][6] He was aLa Liga andCopa del Rey winner as both player and coach at Athletic.[7][4]
His sonLuis was also a footballer.[1] They are related to footballersAnder Garitano andGaizka Garitano, the latter of whom also managed Athletic Bilbao.[8]
