Juan R. Francisco is aFilipinoIndologist[1] who first published an English translation of theMaranao version of theRamayana epic. He is also a professor at theUniversity of the Philippines inManila. For several years he served as the Executive Director of the Philippine-American Educational Foundation (PAEF), administering theFulbright Program in the Philippines.[citation needed]
He has a Ph.D. inSanskrit from theUniversity of Madras, and he studied under Indologist Raghavan fromChennai. Francisco himself taught another Filipino Indologist,Josephine Acosta Pasricha.[2]
