Juan Carlos Chávez Zárate[a] (born 18 January 1967) is a Mexican formerfootballer who played at both professional and international levels as amidfielder.
Born inZamora, Michoacán, Chávez played club football forAtlas,Puebla,Monarcas Morelia andPachuca.[1]
Chávez also earned three caps for theMexico national team, representing them at the1994 FIFA World Cup.
After he retired from playing, Chávez became a football coach. He led theMexico national under-20 football team at the2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup finals inColombia, and was appointed manager ofClub Atlas in September 2011.[1]
